Do you need more closet space? Do you have to many things you want to store in your closet but not enough room? Wouldn't it be nice to have closet storage that was ample to accommodate all your things that need to be in there?
If you are like most people, there really is not enough room in your closet whether it be a bedroom closet, hall closet or utility closet. The clothes on your hangers are probably all smashed together just to make them fit. How frustrating is it to get out what you are going to wear for the day or at night and have it all wrinkled. Now you have to spend time ironing these pieces of clothing.
Wood Shelving Brackets
There is a way to get more room in your closet in about 20 minutes. Do you want to know how to do this?
Here it is. The simple man or woman's way to create that needed space to organize your closet.
You will need two pieces of wood. One for the side and one for the top. You will also need another metal bar to hang your clothes from. You can substitute a wood dowel for a metal bar if you would like.
Get a piece of plywood or solid wood that is about 24 inches wide. The height needs to be determined in a minute. What you are going to do is create a two tier rack to hang your clothes from. Just about all closets have the rod where the clothes hang positioned at a level that takes up way to much room and takes away space. The height of your piece of wood should be that where you can hang tow pieces of garments one above the other without touching each other.
You will attach the piece of wood to the wall with little L shaped brackets that can be found in any home improvement store. Screw on side to the piece of wood and the other into the wall. Now attach the dowels or rods that the clothes will be hanging on. One end to the piece of wood and the other to the wall. Each end can be attached with a simple metal ring that can also be found at any home improvement store. That should take about 10 minutes to do even if you have no idea what you are doing.
The second piece of wood is for the top to make a storage shelf. Measure so you can attach it to the top of what you have just done. One end can be screwed into the top of the first piece of wood. The other end can be attached to the wall with screws. Or you can attach a piece of 2x4 to the wall and let the other end of your new shelf rest on that. This should take about 10 minutes.
20 minutes later you have just doubled your space for hanging clothes and made a shelf on top of that for storing other things. It is easy and fast.
What kind of wood you use is a personal choice. You may want to stain it for aesthetic purposes or not. You can also buy wood that is already painted with holes predrilled in it.
