Tips on How to Put Garage Doors Back on Track

When a garage door doesn't open or close the way it is supposed to, the problem could be in the tracks. Here are a few repair tips to help you learn how to put garage doors back on track.

1) You have to first check if the tracks are well anchored to the wall. Usually, the reason why a garage door goes off track is that the tracks themselves are loosened. Check if the brackets that anchor the track to the walls. If they are a bit loose, you should tighten the bolts.

You also need to check the tracks for any sign of damage or denting. A bad dent can usually cause the garage door to "jump" off track, much like a train being derailed. Repair these dents by pounding them out using a hammer and a block of wood or using a rubber mallet if you have one.

Badly damaged tracks should be replaced immediately, before they cause hazard.

2) Make sure that the tracks are properly aligned. You can do this using a level. If the tracks are horizontal, they should be slanted slightly down to the back of the garage. However, if you are using a roll-up door, the vertical track sections should be exactly leveled. If the tracks are not in the right level, you should first loosen the brackets that hold the tracks in position. When this is done, you should very carefully tap the tracks so that they are aligned.

You should also make sure that the tracks are on the same height on the walls of the garage.

3) You should also make sure that the tracks are clean. In learning how to put a garage door back on track, you will realize that some garage doors get out of track simply because of an obstruction of dirt and grease on the tracks. What you need is a good household cleaner to accomplish this task.

4) After cleaning the tracks, you should also lubricate different parts of the garage door. In the tracks, you could use your commercial garage door lubricant which comes as a spray. As an alternative, you can also make use of powdered graphite. This will ensure the smooth opening and closing of the door.

In the rollers, the best type of lubricant you can use is silicone spray although household oil can serve as an alternative.

5) You should definitely check for any loose parts. Tighten screws or bolts that seem to be too loose. If you are dealing with a roll up door, you ought to check the hinges which hold the door panels together. Replace any hinges which seem to be damaged.

The home bar that takes up a corner of the room or an entire room is definitely the one to have. But, what if you don't have that kind of space? What if you are not ready for an entire bar, but would like a comfortable place to sit and drink other than the couch? The In-Wall Bar is the thing to do.

If you live in an apartment or a small home, the in-wall bar will make a welcome addition. You can build a structure in the wall between the studs that allows you to hide your bar when not in use. Pull up the bar and your various drinking accessories are underneath right where you stored them.

It doesn't have to be that technical of a job. The finish, while not difficult, will be the hardest part of building the in-wall bar, especially if you have drywall, which most apartments and small houses do. Cut the 18" wide rectangle 3' up from the floor. Build an 18" wide, 3' high shelving with plywood and shelving of your choice. Leave a 2" border of space around the outside of the shelving to give space for the bar itself. Place the shelving in the wall and secure it with brackets.

Build the 18" wide by 3' long bar with 2x4s and plywood. Finish the counter top with any finish you want. If you want to hide the bar in the wall, use the plywood you cut out of the wall. But, I like a dark wood finish that lets everyone know it's there. Secure your counter top in the wall with locking hinges that you attach to the studs. That way, they hold your bar up in place when you are drinking. Then, drop it when you are finished. You'll love it and your company will love it too.

However, there is another way to have a wall bar. It's not in the wall. For those of you who can't do any construction to your home because you don't own it and your landlord won't allow it, you can have a wall bar that doesn't take up much space and looks great.

It's a wall unit that hangs on your wall like a picture. Build it in any style you want. Of course, once again, I'm a fan of dark wood with a mirror in the back. But, use your imagination and have fun with it.

Build your wall bar in the dimensions that you want. Build a shelving unit for the top of the bar that holds glasses and mugs. A shelving unit at the bottom of the bar holds various other drinking accessories. An extended shelving unit at the bottom of the bar is utilized to pour drinks and you have a wall bar. It's rather easy to do it yourself.

You don't need an elaborate bar that takes up a corner of a room or an entire room. It can wait until you have a home of your own or a larger home for an addition of this nature. Until then, you can still enjoy a home bar that doesn't take up much space but serves a great purpose.

What exactly is a tote pan? Well, the word "tote" means "carry" or "to carry", so perhaps a more simple explanation of the phrase tote pan would be "carrying pan". In industrial sectors they are simply known as tote pans and they are used for various kinds of storage.

If you need to keep the stored elements relatively free from dust, you can also fit the pans with slide on lids, essentially making them a sealable box.

So, it is evident that galvanised steel tote pans are an effective and important part of any good storage solution.

Easy DIY Projects - How to Install Wall Mounted Shelves

Wall mounted shelves are an easy way to add storage to any room. Whether you use metal or wood shelves and brackets, or floating shelves, wall shelves are a great way to use vertical space, especially in smaller rooms. And best of all, they are very easy to install yourself. Here's a quick how-to guide.

1. Use a stud finder to find your wall studs. Slide it along the wall until you see or hear the indicator (depending on your model you may hear a beep or see a red line). This tells you that you have reached the edge of a wall stud. Mark this location with a pencil. Now start again from the opposite side, just a little further over and slide the finder along towards the mark you just made until it indicates that you have found the other edge of the stud, and mark this point as well.

Move about 32 inches or so, and do this again to find your second stud. If your wall shelves are not large enough to hit both studs, then you do not need to repeat the process. Simply use wall plugs for the brackets that are not going to be drilled in to the stud.

2. Hold one of your brackets at the area you want to hang it. Mark the screw hole with your pencil. Make sure you are starting at the stud. Now, use your drill to make a pilot hole at the pencil mark. If there are two screw holes on your bracket, then mark and drill two pilot holes.

3. Holding the bracket in place with the screw holes over the pilot holes, drill or screw the appropriate screw into the pilot holes. Make it snug, but don't over-tighten it at this point.

4. Using a level, align your second bracket along the wall and mark the screw holes. Drill your pilot holes, then insert wall plugs. Now, screw your brackets into the wall plugs. The wall plugs will provide a more secure hold to the wall, when you cannot use a stud to secure the brackets.

5. Tighten all of your screws, then attach the wall shelf to the brackets. Again, use your level to make sure that it is properly balanced.

As you can see, installing wall mounted shelves is a simple project that you can easily accomplish in less than an hour! And now all you have to do is sit back and enjoy your newly organized room.
